Première wil aanmoedig. Ons wil ʼn studenteteaterfees aanbied van ʼn hoë gehalte op ʼn wyse wat volhoubaar en opwindend is. Première wil ondersteun. Ons wil jong teatermakers die platform bied om hul vaardighede te slyp, ʼn gehoor te vind, en om die waters van die teaterindustrie te toets. Première wil droom. Ons droom om vir ál ons jong akteurs, regisseurs, skrywers en tegnici ʼn geleentheid te gee om hul onderskeie ambisies te verwesenlik.
Première is ʼn inisiatief ondersteun deur die Universiteit Stellenbosch Dramadepartement om die skep van nuwe teaterwerk deur die studente van die Departement aan te moedig. Hierdie produksies mag in enige styl/genre aangebied word, met ‘n tydsduur van tussen 30 – 50 minute.
Première se doel is om ʼn kultuur van deurlopende artistieke samewerking binne die dramastudentegemeenskap te bevorder deur die skep van nuwe teaterwerk te bewerkstellig. Die klem is op die vervaardiging van produksies van ʼn hoë gehalte in ʼn omgewing wat stimulerend, opwindend, opbouend en inspirerend is. Première bied ook geleentheid vir studenteteatermakers om met industriespelers bande te kweek en om gehoorbewustheid en -bywoning in die breër studentegemeenskap van die universiteit te bevorder.
Première is an initiative supported by the University of Stellenbosch's drama department to encourage the creation of new theatre work by the students of the department. These productions may be presented in any style/genre, with a duration of between 35 and 50 minutes.
Premiere aims to foster a culture of continuous artistic collaboration within the student body of the drama department by encouraging the creation of new theatre work. The emphasis is on the creation of productions that are of a high standard in an environment that is stimulating, exciting, enriching, and inspiring. Première also provides opportunity for the cultivation of ties between student theatre makers and the industry, and to promote audience awareness and attendance within the wider student body of the university.
